Episode Name:
The Girl Who Knew Too Much
Air date:
7/29/2013
Summary:
As Allison begins to suspect someone dangerously close to her may be involved in the murders, Scott and Stiles conclude that Lydia’s rising talents may be their best bet to solving the murders.
Teen Wolf continued to tell the tale of Season 3 tonight with a new kind of episode featuring flashback narrations from two of this show’s most notorious villains. Gerard Argent and Peter Hale played storyteller, revealing a twisted truth behind Derek’s brooding ways.
Stiles and Cora sat debating the whereabouts of Derek following the death of Boyd at the hands of the alphas. Hale’s sister recalled a time when Derek was, according to surprise visitor Uncle Peter, a lot like Scott. That is, until his little Teen Wolf heart was shattered forever. Peter would continue to drum up the memories of his own perspective surrounding Derek’s one true love story. Paige, a sophomore like Derek, met Hale one afternoon while the former attempted to practice music and the latter whipped up a barrage of hoots and hollers in the hallway. Our first glimpse of the boy hashtagged #babyderek showcased, as expected, a young wolf much like our own Scott McCall. He flirted, quite obnoxiously, with a much-peeved Paige as a group of rowdy friends watched on. Of course, Derek’s intention was never truly to bother the girl, but rather, to get her attention. Paige would only offer her name if Derek could legitimately play an instrument in the school music room. Very cleverly, Hale picked up a triangle, dinging a single note. In my opinion, this high school romance was set up perfectly. A teenage girl falls for cunning charm. A teenage boy falls for hard to get. Before long, the two were stricken with a case of werewolf puppy love and professing their love for each other.
Unfortunately, Derek, needless to say, harbored a dangerous secret in his bloodline. One night at an abandoned distillery, Hale “caught the scent” of blood and murder. Not long after, several packs convened in the abandoned plant, driving Hale and Paige to run and hide. From the perspective of an eavesdropping young Peter, we witnessed the introduction of Talia Hale, a great and powerful alpha with the ability to wrangle even the most bloodthirsty and power-hungry of pack leaders. Talia, Derek’s mother, is a full on black wolf. Remember, it’s rare that a werewolf can make the full transformation from man to beast. Kali (Felisha Terrell) and Deucalion watched on as Eniss (Brian Patrick Wade) mourned the death of one of his own. Remember a time when Allison’s father, Chris (JR Bourne), and Gerard were feared and ruthless killing machines, severing wolves in half left and right? Well, Chris might be out of the game and Gerard is currently down for the count, but that doesn’t mean that they wouldn’t serve as Peter’s flashback villains. Eniss, scraping the spiral symbol for vengeance into the steel door of the distillery, declared war.
